It seems like spring might actually be here.

Although, when I looked it up online, I found that the latest recorded snow in Pittsburgh was on May 31.

(Shoot me now!)

In Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, as the seasons change, so does the flow of energy.

As that energy changes in the world around us, it also changes in the flow within our bodies.

Each shift then ushers in a time when two acupuncture meridians in particular are most dominant in our bodies.

For spring (should it actually arrive) that would mean an emphasis on Liver and Gall Bladder meridians.

This is often why acupuncture is helpful in the management of issues that arrive seasonally.

In addition, each acupuncture meridian in the body relates to a particular area of the spine.

This is one of the reasons that chiropractic and acupuncture make such nice adjuncts to one another.

Dr. Konegger and I have noticed this many times over our years of working together.

If a patient is in for both chiropractic and acupuncture on the same visit, whichever practitioner goes second has the easier job.

If acupuncture is first that day, I will have fewer segments to adjust when we do the chiropractic visit.

Back to the changes that spring brings.

If your animal companion has not been adjusted in a while or had acupuncture recently, now would be a great time to check in with us.

If your pet has never had chiropractic or acupuncture, this would also be a great time to introduce us to their care.

Keep your fingers crossed that the weather keeps smiling on us!
