Massage is as awesome for dogs as it is for people!
It can play an important role in keeping the body working as well as possible, keeping joints flexible and comfortable, and addressing restrictions in movement and performance caused by imbalanced or tight muscles. Massage increases blood flow into every part of the body, increases lymphatic drainage out of tissues, and can decrease pain. Massage is often an important tool in rehabilitation from injuries and in the prevention of many injuries.
Many athletes find that regular massage helps in their overall performance.
Many individuals just find that massage provides a great improvement in their overall quality of life.
Massage was an important component of my Rehabilitation course. I have also worked with human massage therapists since 1993, as a colleague and as an instructor at various schools of massage therapy.
If you are interested in a massage appointment for your companion, please, call us at KVet (724-216-5174). I have massage appointments available on Wednesdays (10-12) and Fridays (2-4). We are also having one of our Technicians train in massage, so that we can offer more available times in the future. (I'll keep you posted on that!)
